Patrick Merrin

Patrick Merrin joined Compass Minerals in March 2025 as chief operations officer (COO). In this role, he is responsible for overseeing global operations, including environmental, health, safety and security, for the company’s mining, packaging and production facilities. He will work to ensure safe and reliable production while maximizing the value of the company’s advantaged assets. Mr. Merrin’s extensive operating experience in the mining industry spans more than three decades.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Merrin served as executive vice president of technical services at Lundin Mining Corporation, a diversified Canadian base metals miner. Before Lundin, he was appointed chief executive officer at Copper Mountain Mining Corporation, a copper mining company. Previous roles include COO of mining at Washington Companies, a diversified holding company in the transportation, mining, construction and shipbuilding industries; and senior vice president of Canadian operations at Newcrest Mining and Goldcorp, both gold mining companies acquired by Newmont Corporation.

Mr. Merrin holds a Bachelor of Engineering in chemical engineering from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration from University of Toronto.
